Biography

Ray Courtney was appointed Commissioner of Ward 5 on February 27th, 2019, to fill the seat vacated by former Commissioner Cheryl Gelber until the term expires in January 2020. 

Ray is a member of the founding team at CIONIC, a company building precision bionics for people with mobility impairments. Prior to joining CIONIC, Ray has worked in the software industry for almost 20 years at Oracle, Google, and Jawbone building high performance engineering teams that develop highly scalable internet applications. He has also served on the Technical Advisory Board for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) and as a volunteer for his local chapters of the CCFA.  

In 2001, Ray graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. While attending Harvard, he served as an Officer of the Phillips Brooks House Association.

Ray belongs to both the North Ardmore Civic Association and the Wynnewood Civic Association where he is also a Board member. Ray lives in Wynnewood with his wife, Christyn, and their two children, Jonathan and Caroline.
