Types of Contracts

The Township normally contracts for two types of purchases: (1) either a one-time contract or (2) a requirements contract.

One Time Contract: The Township procures required services or materials on a one time basis. A firm price is requested for fixed quantities with single or multiple delivery sites. Depending on the dollar amount of the purchase, the formal sealed solicitation method via PennBid or informal quotation method is used.

Requirements Contract: The Township has established term contracts for estimated quantities of materials or services commonly used in volume by specific departments. These contracts are awarded by a formal sealed solicitation method via PennBid for a specified period of time, usually one (1) year. In some instances the Township includes provisions for contract term extensions or renewal options with renewal terms usually tied to the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
