The Parking Services Department oversees and implements the Township's parking management program, including sale of parking permits and enforcement of time zone and metered parking. The department maintains parking meters and municipal parking lots throughout the Township and it develops and implements parking management strategies designed to maximize the usage of the Township's available parking inventory.

Parking enforcement hours at meters and kiosks are Monday through Saturday 8am – 6pm.  Sundays are free.   Enforcement on time zoned streets are as posted.

January, 2026, meter rates will increase for the first time in over two decades.  The change increases parking rates from 50 cents to $1 per hour for all parking meters except for some designated parking meters in the Ardmore Business District.

Designated parking meters in Ardmore: Rittenhouse Place, Cricket Avenue, Cricket Terrace, Parking Lot 5 on Cricket Terrace and Lot 6 at Schauffele Plaza. The meter rate will increase from $0.50 to $1.50 per hour. 

The  meters at the Cricket Avenue Parking Garage remain at the current rate of $0.50 per hour.

2026 Residential Permits:  Permits will be available for purchase on December 15, 2025 .  The cost is $20.00.  Valid registration and proof of residency are required.  Our hours of operation are 8:15am to 4:30pm, Monday-Friday.

How to apply for permit:  Applications for municipal lot permits may be obtained below or in our office.  Residential permits do not require an application. 

In Person:   Permits may be purchased at the Parking Services window located in the Public Safety Building. 

Contactless Transaction: Email documentation to parkingpermits@lowermerion.org, mail payment to the Township of Lower Merion, 71 E. Lancaster Ave. Ardmore, PA  19003, Attn: Parking Services Department or utilize the lockbox. The permit will be mailed.

U.S. Mail: A residential permit or municipal lot permit application may be requested  by U.S. Mail.  Proof of residency is not required for lot permits. The permit will be mailed.  

Drop-Off:  The lockbox is located at the entrance of the Public Safety Building, 71 E. Lancaster Avenue, Ardmore.    Please place your request or application in a  sealed envelope and include payment.  Checks are made payable to Township of Lower Merion.  The permit will be mailed to the address specified. 


Municipal Long Term and Short Term Parking Permit Rates

A long term permit is $240.00. A short term permit issued on a  daily, weekly or monthly basis is $3, $12, and $45 respectively.
