New Bus Network – Phase 1 Begins, Sunday, August 23rd

What to expect in Lower Merion.

SEPTA’s New Bus Network eliminates Route 106 (Paoli to 69th St Transit Center), removes service to Gladwyne for Routes 44 (Front & Market to Ardmore) and 52 (49th&Woodland to Wissahickon Transit Center), and increases frequency along Route 105 (Rosemont/Paoli to 69th St Transit Center) along Lancaster Avenue.

Four primary SEPTA bus routes serving Lower Merion and the surrounding Lancaster Avenue corridor will be impacted next week when Phase 1 of the New Bus Network overhaul takes effect beginning Sunday, August 23, 2026.

The specific route changes for Lower Merion riders include:

1. Route 106 (Discontinued) Paoli to 69th St Transit Center: This route will be eliminated starting Monday, August 24th. SEPTA recommends riders use the newly extended Route 105, or the Paoli/Thorndale Regional Rail line. There will be no alternative service available to Penn Wynne.

2. Route 105 (Rerouted and Extended) Rosemont/Paoli to 69th St Transit Center: Route 105 will be expanded starting Monday, August 24th. The Route will run from the 69th Street Transit Center to Paoli Hospital, with service increasing in frequency throughout the week. Route 105 will be rerouted in Overbrook, from Malvern and Lancaster Avenues to City and Haverford Avenues.

3. Route 44 (Discontinued/Reduced) Front&Market to Ardmore: Route 44 will see reduced service throughout the week starting on Monday, August 24th. The Route will no longer serve Gladwyne and will limit Narberth service to weekday morning rush hours.

4. Route 52 (Discontinued/Reduced) 49th&Woodland to Wissahickon Transit Center: Buses that previously terminated at City Avenue will now terminate at the Wissahickon Transit Center via City Avenue instead of extending into Lower Merion. The line's historical northern route into Gladwyne is eliminated.
