Gas Powered Leaf Blower Regulations
Adopted Regulations- Gas Powered Leaf Blowers
New regulations restricting the use of gas powered leaf blowers in Lower Merion were adopted at the November 19, 2025 Board of Commissioners meeting.
By phasing out their use, Lower Merion Township is taking a step toward a cleaner, quieter community for all residents.
Key provisions:
- Use restrictions apply to all persons and entities, including residents, commercial landscapers, contractors, and property maintenance personnel, on all properties within the Township.
- 2026: The use of gas powered leaf blowers will not be allowed from June 1 to October 1 .
- 2027: The use of gas powered leaf blowers will not be allowed from January 1 to April 1, nor from June 1 to October 1.
- 2028: The use of gas powered leaf blowers will not be allowed from January 1 to October 1.
- Beginning January 1, 2029 and for every year thereafter, the use of gas powered leaf blowers will be prohibited for the entire year.
- The use of electric-powered leaf blowers is allowed all year.
- Use of gas powered generators to run corded electric leaf blowers or charge electric leaf blower batteries will not be allowed.
