Historical Commission

Regular Monthly Meeting

Chair: Christian Busch
Vice-Chair: Melanie Piltch

1. 2019-R-5 – 672 South Highland Avenue, Bala Cynwyd – Class 2

This application was tabled in March. It proposed to replace cedar siding with Cedar Impressions polymer siding, replace slate and asphalt roofing with synthetic slate, and replace aluminum gutters with copper gutters. Decorative diamond-shaped patterning of the wood siding was not proposed to be replicated, but some courses clad in half-round synthetic shingles were proposed to compensate. The Commission tabled the application, but the work proceeded without permits, including the removal of architectural details that were not discussed in March. The Commission is being asked by the Building & Planning Department to re-evaluate the application and recommend remedies.

2. 2019-R-15 – 906 Old Lancaster Road – Class 2

Application to construct a rear porch with roof overhang. Application was tabled in May.
