Ashbridge Memorial Park

Parking Lot and Access Improvements

In 2013 the Township will upgrade the parking lot and access road in Ashbridge Park. Attendance and activity at the park has increased significantly since completion of a walking path around the park’s perimeter and a new playground for children ages 2 to 12.

The parking lot will be graded and paved increasing the parking lot’s capacity and efficiency. Conduit will also be laid for lighting in the future. The Montgomery Ave. access road will be removed completely and all traffic entering and leaving the park will do so from Airdale Rd. in the future. The two stone pillars on either side of the Airdale entrance will be moved and re-built to allow for easier truck access. A section of the park’s soft surface walking path that continually washes out will be paved and the last remaining section of the path will be built. In addition the path leading from the parking lot to Ashbridge House will be improved.

Construction will begin in the fall of 2013. For reasons of safety, the park’s tennis courts, playground and comfort station will be closed during construction which is expected to take eight to ten weeks. Lechmanik, Inc. of West Chester has been contracted to complete the project as a cost of $403,264.14.
