Pennsylvania's Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, also known as LIHEAP, will increase cash grant amounts by $100 and extend the program through April 2, 2010.
LIHEAP helps income-eligible households pay for heat during the winter months and is administered by the state Department of Public Welfare. A family of four with an annual income of up to $33,075 can qualify for this assistance.
LIHEAP's closing date has been extended from March 15th to April 2nd; in addition, cash grants for this winter are expected to average $326.
Expansion of this program will allow Pennsylvania families to more easily heat their homes this winter, bringing much relief to the many families who continue to struggle to make ends meet. Applications are available through the Montgomery County Assistance Office by calling (610) 272-1752 or visiting the PA Department of Public Welfare Office’s website at www.dpw.state.pa.us/ServicesPrograms/LIHEAP.
