The Bicycle Patrol Unit consists of eight officers who patrol the Township on bicycles. The program increases police officer contact with the community, especially in the business areas. Officers on bicycles interact more easily with the public and make frequent stops to visit area business persons and listen to their concerns. In addition they ride throughout the Township Parks and areas inaccessible to patrol vehicles.

Officers in the Bicycle Unit have received special training in the operation of bicycles for patrol purposes. Their highly visible presence in business areas deters crime and initiates positive police interaction with the public.
