Residents Sought for 3 Township Advisory Boards

The Township of Lower Merion is seeking qualified Township residents to serve on the following advisory boards:

  • Shade Tree Commission: The Shade Tree Commission (STC) is composed of not more than 9 residents of the Township who serve 5-year terms of office. The STC has exclusive custody and control of all shade trees on Township property and is authorized to plant, remove, maintain and protect all shade trees on the public streets and highways in accordance with the published rules and regulations of the Township. Experience in landscape architecture, social media, and communications are preferred but not required. More information about the STC can be found here in the Township Code: Chapter 128: Shade Trees
  • Cable Television Advisory Committee: The Cable Television Advisory Committee (CTAC) is composed of eight residents of the Township who serve 3-year terms of office. CTAC serves as an advisory body to the Board of Commissioners with respect to the Township’s franchise agreements with both Comcast and Verizon. Members represent a cross section of varied interests in the Township. Knowledge of the cable television industry and the PEG system (public-, educational- and governmental-access TV stations) is preferred. Members do not advise on satellite TV, telephone/cellular or Internet issues. More information about the CTAC can be found here in the Township Code: Chapter 140: Telecommunications Facilities
  • Civil Service Commission AlternateThe Civil Service Commission (CSC) is composed of three members and two alternates who are qualified electors of the Township who serve 6-year terms. The CSC oversees the hiring of police officers and the promotional process within the Police Department. An alternate may participate in any proceeding or discussion of the CSC but shall not be entitled to vote as a regular member of the Board unless designated as a voting member to form a quorum.
