Township Comprehensive Plan available for Public Distribution
The Lower Merion Township Comprehensive Plan, unanimously adopted by the Board of Commissioners on January 6, 2016, is now available for public distribution. The Plan is based upon the fundamental assumption that the Township is primarily a low-density residential suburb and that local government actions should reinforce the vision of Lower Merion as “a great place to live.”
The Comprehensive Plan, several years in the making, provides clear direction for the community regarding future land use, transportation planning, stormwater management, community facilities, and housing needs. It replaces the Township’s previous plan, which was adopted in 1979.
A Comprehensive Plan is a generational planning document reflective of the community’s vision of itself now and in the future. The plan is based on residents’ and community leaders’ long-range vision for community growth and values. The Comprehensive Plan is used to direct policies, programs, and projects, especially regarding the physical growth and redevelopment of the community.
The Comprehensive Plan may be viewed on the Township’s website (www.lowermerion.org), and printed copies can be reviewed at each of the Township’s library branches, or at the Building & Planning Department at the Township Administration Building (75 E Lancaster Avenue, Ardmore, PA 19003). A limited number of printed and bound Comprehensive Plans may also be purchased at-cost for $115 from the Building & Planning Department.
