The Historical Commission shall perform those duties established by Chapter 88 and by Chapter 155 with respect to recommending to the Board of Commissioners those properties to be placed on or removed from the Historic Resource Inventory, distinguishing between those properties to be classified as Class I and Class II Historic Resources. The Historical Commission shall further give counsel to the Board of Commissioners, as provided for in this chapter and in Chapters 62, 135 and 155, regarding the preservation or demolition of those resources of historic significance located in the Township, but not within a local historic district.

Application for Review (PDF, 148 KB) - To initiate the process of obtaining a building permit for a property on the Historic Resource inventory (HRI), applicants must submit a completed copy of this application.

Historic Preservation Awards

The HARB and the Historical Commission periodically co-sponsor awards. The 2017 Historic Preservation Awards were held on October 19 and took place at the Levering Mill Tribute House.

In 2017 the Township was proud to honor 9 historic preservation projects, 3 individuals for communication/education efforts, 8 past members of the HARB and Historical Commission, and Gerald Francis, recipient of the Robert DeSilets Award.

    1    1010 North Spring Mill Road, Villanova – Meadowbrook – Class 2 – 2017-LD-19
Application to subdivide the 12-acre property into 4 lots. The Historical Commission reviewed a plan to subdivide the property into six lots in June, 2015. Since then, the applicant has granted a conservation easement for a portion of the property. They return with a plan to subdivide the property into four lots, as shown on sheet 4 of the submitted site plans.

    2    1016 Spring Mill Road, Villanova – Stoke Pogis Lodge – Class 2 – 2017-R-18
This structure is found on the proposed Lot 4 of application 2017-LD-19. Proposed is a rear two-story addition to replace an existing one-story shed roofed addition. The building will be evaluated for other needs and will be repaired/restored in kind as required. The original application was tabled in July, 2017.
